Thank you for visiting mistilynn.com!

Many times I have been asked, "How did mistilynn.com begin?" and "Why is Horry your favorite player?". I will sit down and answer all of your questions here. If there is anything I miss, feel free to e-mail me.

How did mistilynn.com begin?

I began creating web sites many years ago in high school. My father taught computer classes and had me try out a new class he was to teach about designing web sites. I sat down and created my first site, a page of musician jokes. I had fun maintaining it and creating new sites to fit my interests. It was the easiest way for me to keep track of my own information, to keep an organized filing of pictures and data. So, the truth is my site is most utilized by me as an organizational tool, it took a while for it to occur to me that others might enjoy seeing this information as well.

With all the topics covered on my site, called the 'Magical Misti-cal Tour' at the time, it was becoming too diverse and too much to keep up so I eliminated everything but the basketball related topics. My Japanese recipes are still up, my family uses this site to share the recipes (HERE is one of them).

I did not watch sports growing up. In fact, I hated sports. But one day my father was watching a Lakers game so I sat down to watch with him. I was transfixed by the play of one person. "Who is that?" I asked my dad and he said, "Robert Horry." I watched a bit more and said, "I like how he plays." and was promptly reminded, "You don't know anything about basketball." I went home and much to my roommate's chagrin, I started watching every Lakers game and especially focused on watching Horry play. It wasn't flashy and he didn't lead ESPN's highlights, but there was something about him that had me hooked.

Then the unthinkable happened and the Lakers let him go. I had a choice, follow a team in turmoil attempting to buy their way to a championship or follow my favorite player who had signed with a team of genuinely nice guys playing team ball. It wasn't a hard decision.

Why is Robert Horry your favorite player?
Are you a Lakers fan or a Spurs fan?

I am not a "Spurs fan", I am merely supporting the Spurs because I want Horry to win a couple more championships. I have a lot of respect for San Antonio and the guys there but the Lakers are in my blood. My favorite Lakers player, Brian Cook, earned my admiration in a similar way as Horry. It was instant, I saw him play once and I knew immediately that he was going to be very good.

Yes, believe it or not I have a world that doesn't involve basketball at all. I have a family and I have a job that I love as an executive assistant. I am a workaholic, I'll be the first to admit it, but it's okay because it's truly my dream job for a company that I am proud to be a part of.

Do you have a life outside of basketball?
How do you get to meet so many players?

It's a combination of luck and good seats at games. I remember my first time meeting Horry, 12/1/03, at a Clippers/Spurs game and the first time I met Brian Cook, 7/10/04, during the Summer Pro League. I ran into Devin Brown while out to dinner with friends in San Antonio (4/8/04) and Sean Elliott at the Spurs' Tip-off Luncheon (10/23/04) plus many more interactions. The guys have all been very kind I'm very fortunate to have been able to chat with them.

Here are my beautiful angels - my niece (Leyla) and nephews (Christopher and Anthony). Laker fans from birth!
