1996-97: Played 83 games due to the trade from Phoenix....finished third to champion Kobe Bryant and runner-up Chris Carr in the Nestle Slam Dunk Championship at the 1997 All-Star Weekend in Cleveland (attempted a cartwheel dunk.... Played 27 games for Phoenix, 18 as a starter, and was averaging 13.0 ppg when he was traded to Dallas on Dec. 26, 1996, in the deal that brought Jason Kidd to the Suns.

1995-96: Named first-team All-Rookie....Finished third in Rookie of the Year voting....Averaged more minutes than any rookie in Suns' history....Became just the third Phoenix rookie to score 1,000 points in a season....Finished runner-up to Brent Barry in the Nestle Crunch Slam Dunk Championship and registered 9 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals as a starter in the Schick Rookie Game at All-Star Weekend....Missed the 1996 Playoffs after spraining left ankle in final quarter of season finale at Houston on 4/21/96.
