June 2004: Tony Parker was one of eight players on the Spurs protected list for the upcoming expansion draft. Joining him on the list were Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Rasho Nesterovic, Devin Brown, Jason Hart, Hedo Turkoglu and Alex Garcia (who was later waived).
May 15, 2004: I spent the early afternoon of 5/15/04 at the players' hotel and chatted with several players, including Malik Rose, Bruce Bowen, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. Here is my story:
Okay, I don't know if it counts as "sighting" since I sought them out. I have a rare Saturday free from any obligations and nothing to do before watching the game. So what did I do? I went to the Spurs' hotel.
I walked in and Bruce Bowen was standing there with family. I walked up to him and said, "Hi, I just wanted you to know that there are a lot of people in LA supporting you guys tonight." He looked shocked and said thank you, he appreciated it. I walked through the lobby a bit then settled into a seat with a view of the elevator, stairs and front door.
People I saw but didn't get to talk to: Jason Hart, Charlie Ward, Danny Ferry, Mario Elie, Coach Pop and a whole bunch of people I didn't recognize but were wearing Spurs gear.
Next I talked to Malik Rose. I walked up as he was talking to a couple guys (don't know who they are) and repeated what I had said to Bowen. He gave me his million-dollar smile and shook my hand. So I continued talking. I told him that I went to SA to see them play and even went to his restaurant. He was so excited about that and one of the other guys laughed and said, "A satisfied customer." He asked if I had come all the way out here just to see them and said yes. He gave me a wink and said, "Then we'll definitely have to win tonight." I told him about SpursCentral and he said, "Oh yeah, they have a link for me on their site." Malik knows about SC! I wished him luck again, we shook hands again and I returned to my seat.
I had to call my friend Blondie at this point - I was so excited! Of course, as we were talking, Manu Ginobili walks by. So I hang up on Blondie and rush to the stairs that Manu was already half-way up. I called to him and he stopped, a bit hesitant. I gave him the same well-wishes line that I gave Malik and Bruce, he gave me the biggest smile and said thanks. He came back down the stairs a few steps to where I was and shook my hand. How sweet was that??
Called Jackie again, then hung up on her again (I'm so sorry!) because Tim Duncan walked by and I've never met him before. I again rushed to the stairs where Timmy was taking them 3 steps at a time, he's fast! I called to him but he didn't stop so finally I just gave him my well wishes then he stopped and looked down at me, shocked. He said thanks, he really appreciated it.
I think that's about when the hotel staff realized I was there only to see the players. Only took them 3 hours of hanging out in the lobby for them to figure it out! I was dressed professionally, I didn't take pictures and I didn't ask for autographs so I think that's why they let me stay as long as they did. But eventually I was asked to leave so I went on my merry little way. I'm sad I didn't get to see Horry or Tony but still pretty excited about the players I did get to talk to.

March 4, 2004: Tony was at a Meet and Greet along with the Spurs Silver Dancers and the Coyote, at Academy Sports and Outdoors, the official apparel headquarters of the Spurs on IH-35 North near the Forum across from Retama Park on Thursday, March 4th. They were there from 6pm to 7pm. The first 150 fans to arrive received an autograph.
February 28, 2004: In a game minus Tim Duncan, Tony stepped up to score a season-high 29 points in this win over the Denver Nuggets. The team wore their throw-back jerseys and were greeted with a throw-back Kevin Willis, who scored 17 points off the bench.
January 13, 2004: Tony said the Spurs will not let him play for France in September qualifying for the 2005 European Championships. He played for France last summer in Eurobasket 2003 and missed San Antonio's first seven games with an ankle injury.
"The San Antonio Spurs will never let me go. They want me to rest this summer," Parker told Le Parisien, a French publication. "My right ankle is not really better, I think I will be suffering with that all season."
December 29, 2003: Tony Parker was voted French Champion of Champions for 2003 by sports daily L'Equipe on Monday. Parker, 21, the first basketball player to get L'Equipe's award, was rewarded for winning the NBA title with the Spurs this year. Parker was picked in a poll of 145 L'Equipe journalists. The newspaper called him "the symbol of a reinvigorated France."
"It's a nice reward for all the hard work I put in. I'm proud," Parker told L'Equipe, adding that he has become "a more complete player" under Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. read more.

November 10, 2003: Tony Parker and Tim Duncan both came back from ankle injuries to lead the Spurs to a win over the Jazz. This was also David Robinson's jersey retirement ceremony night so it was special all-around.
November 9, 2003: If Tony Parker has his way, he'll make his first appearance of the season Monday against Utah.
"I want to come back for David (Robinson)," Parker said.
"I'm just trying to get comfortable where I feel like I have no risk," Parker said. "If it was the playoffs I would already be playing. But Pop wants to be conservative and make sure I'm close to 100 percent. He doesn't want to lose me for another 10, 15 games just because I came back too early."
November 2, 2003: Tony Parker will sit out at least one more game. "I'm trying to be conservative," Parker said. "It makes no sense to take some risks. If it was a playoff game, I would definitely play. But we have too many injured guys. I don't want to come back, tweak it and miss another 10 games. I think I have a shot on Monday. I'll try. If not, we'll just wait."
October 8, 2003: Spurs @ Grizzlies (Preseason) 2:00 p.m. CT, Bercy Arena (Paris, France). Spurs on 105-93.
October 3, 2003: Spurs wrap up training camp and depart for Paris, France.
September 30, 2003: Training Camp begins
September 14, 2003: France played for the bronze metal (and an Olympic berth) against Italy. In a very close game down the stretch, France lost 69-67. Tony turned in an amazing performance with 24 points but he was the only one in double figures. France gets 4th place but will not be at the Olympics next year.
